Red Bull Salzburg star Dominik Szoboszlai has turned down a move to Arsenal to join RB Leipzig instead.
That’s according to Sky Sport Germany, who say the highly-coveted forward is set to finalise his move to the Bundesliga side today.
Szoboszlai has been heavily linked with a move in January after impressing for Salzburg again this season.
Arsenal have been frequently named among his suitors, with his agent even confirming that they were trying to secure his signature back in June.
However, it recently emerged that they were set to miss out to Leipzig, with the player having decided that Germany would be the best destination for him.
It wasn’t made clear if he had rejected offers from elsewhere in that report, but Sky Sport Germany insist he ‘turned down numerous other offers’ including ones from Arsenal and Real Madrid.
They report that he also had an offer from Bayern Munich, but it was the potential in Leipzig, and the chance to work under Julien Nagelsmann, that proved to be the deciding factors.
He’s now set to be revealed this afternoon after doing his medical and signing a contract until 2025, with Leipzig paying €20m plus bonuses and making him the most expensive Hungarian footballer in history.
