Arsenal have already been linked to multiple strikers this summer, including RB Leipzig star Benjamin Šeško.
Two days ago, we covered claims from Germany which stated the 21-year-old was left out of the club’s PR trip to Brazil as Arsenal are positioning themselves to sign him. The slant very much felt like RB Leipzig were hoping Arsenal would make a move and therefore wanted to keep their player close.
SKy Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report the latest on Arsenal’s pursuit of Šeško.
He claims the two clubs have started negotiations for the Slovenia international’s transfer in the summer window.
Plettenberg said there was already a meeting in London for Šeško between Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta and Leipzig managing director of sport, Marcel Schäfer.
The latest talks, as per the reporter, revolve around the ‘possible payment structure’ as his release clause is set at €80m. Plettenberg reports it’s unclear whether the Gunners will be able to afford the overall package, meaning fee, salary and agent commission.
It’s worth noting the Portuguese press have repeatedly stated Sporting’s Victor Gyökeres is Arsenal’s main target. Plettenberg backs that up and adds that the north London club are also focusing on Šeško.
The Slovenian has managed 21 goals and six assists for the Bundesliga club this season.
