Steven Nzonzi to Arsenal will not die until the transfer window has been slammed shut, and it feels like that’s been the case for the past few markets.
The midfielder has wanted out of Sevilla for a while and his behaviour at times last season made the club quite happy about that. Nzonzi’s price was dropping and the situation was sliding to a less than suitable ending for the Spanish club.
And then Didier Deschamps picked the player for his France squad, won the tournament, and gave Nzonzi some minutes.
Sevilla automatically, and understandably, felt they could get more money but that hasn’t materialised yet.
Nzonzi has been due to return to training today, and Marca say Arsenal and AS Roma are still keen, with the clubs exploring their options to sign the player.
Marca believes the interest continues to grow but it hasn’t really felt like that, with Arsenal, Roma and Everton the clubs most linked for some months.
Nzonzi waits, and now there’s a rush before the deadline to see if an English club will really come in.
