Arsenal are ‘in contact’ with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria about a free transfer next summer.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say the Gunners are ‘desperately looking for a reinforcement’ for their midfield.
Zakaria is out of contract in the summer, so is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs from next month.
His intention to leave the Bundesliga side has already been made official by the club itself, and there is now a long list of suitors lining up to try and secure his signature.
Arsenal have been named among them on several occasions, and FT back that up, stating that the 25-year-old’s advisors are ‘in contact’ with the Gunners.
They are ‘eyeing a signing’ on a free transfer for next season, with it, believed that they are desperately looking to add another midfielder to Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Manchester City and Manchester United are also both named as interested parties, but it’s stated that Old Trafford or the Emirates would be better for the midfielder given the competition in Pep Guardiola’s squad.
That could be a boost for Arsenal, who are already in contact with Zakaria’s agents and trying to make a deal happen.
