Arsenal and Chelsea Women have both made offers for Jelena Cankovic, report Aftonbladet on Wednesday afternoon.
Cankovic currently plays for FC Rosengård, where she’s been since 2019, and the Swedish newspaper says she’s been one of the top performers in the local league in the following years.
Both Chelsea and Arsenal want to sign her, and both are said to have made offers which reach the level of her release clause. That means that should Cankovic be able to reach an agreement with either of the London clubs, then there’s nothing FC Rosengård can do to stop the move from happening.
Described as a creative midfielder, Cankovic is someone her current club want to keep so they’d have to put forward a convincing argument for her to turn down the two Women’s Super League sides.
Aftonbladet contacted Therese Sjögran, who is the general sports manager at the Swedish club, and she clearly didn’t want to say much about the situation: “There are always rumours about good players and Jelena is one of those. She has a contract with us until 2025, that’s the only thing I can comment on.”
