Arsenal and Chelsea are ‘very attentive’ to Sporting Club de Portugal defender Ousmane Diomande and are likely to be watching him at the Africa Cup of Nations.

That’s according to Record, who say the Premier League duo ‘should take note’ of the defender, whose release clause is €80m.

The newspaper explains that Diomande is set to make his debut at AFCON today, when Ivory Coast start their tournament against Guinea-Bissau.

The tournament will provide the defender with the opportunity ‘to be observed in a continental showcase’ and both Arsenal and Chelsea are likely to be those doing the watching.

According to Record they are ‘very attentive’ to the 20-year-old, who has been impressing in Portugal since a €7.3m move from FC Midtjylland in January 2023.

Numerous reports have linked him with a move away since then, with a report at the beginning of this month stating Arsenal have intensified their efforts followed by a claim on Friday that Chelsea’s interest in him is real.

Whether either are ready to make a move as yet isn’t clear but Record believe both will be watching him at AFCON, to see how he does on the big stage.
