As Calcio Mercato features a story about a player who they label as ‘the new Thierry Henry’ today, we couldn’t expect them linking him to any other club but Arsenal.
The piece is about Abdallah Sima, a Senegalese winger who grew up in France and has now been impressing for Slavia Prague with 13 goals in 18 appearances this season.
Calcio Mercato quotes the club president Jaroslav Tvrdík claiming no one will take the player for less than €50m, as they can’t hide the excitement about his development.
And when speaking of the sides who’ve been interested in him, the website lists Arsenal and Juventus. It’s claimed scouts from both clubs ‘put his name on their notebooks’.
Sima’s name was mentioned on our website just this week. That’s because when speaking to the Czech media a few days ago, West Ham midfielder Tomáš Souček talked about his former teammate and said the Hammers should go get him.
Where Calciomercato got this information from, however, isn’t clear, since there’s been no mention of the Gunners in the Czech Republic of late when it comes to Sima, but it could be from the Juventus side of things, who have told them there could be competition.
Either way, in case the Hammers get convinced that checking Sima out would be a good idea, we may soon see a London derby in the competition for the 19-year-old, with Arsenal fighting David Moyes for a signing.
