Over the past week or so, Media Foot in France have been giving regular updates on Arsenal’s interest in Lucas Paqueta.
The Brazilian midfielder appears to be a big target for the Gunners this summer, and while no official move has been made just yet, that doesn’t mean they aren’t still trying to get a deal done.
The same website bring an update on Thursday to let their readers know where things stand, and it’s quite positive for Arsenal.
The first change is that Paqueta ‘wants to leave’, although not ‘at all costs’, since he’s still quite comfortable with the Ligue 1 side.
However, with a few options presenting themselves to him, he’s ‘tempted by a new challenge’, especially since Lyon aren’t in any European competition next year.
Arsenal are said to be ‘in the lead’, but still haven’t put an offer forward despite being ‘boiling hot’ to sign him.
Arteta is ‘pushing’ the Gunners to sign the player, and Lyon ‘know that an offensive is being prepared’.
Not only that, but relationship between the two clubs is ‘excellent’, which could help any negotiations going forward.
As for the price, the belief is Lyon can ‘reasonably bank on a cheque overtaking the €50m’ mark.
