Arsenal’s interest in Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo continues to be pushed by the Portuguese media.
Today, it’s newspaper Correio da Manhã who claims the Gunners ‘insist’ on the player, and could make a concrete offer for the signing ‘in the coming days’.
Grimaldo, who’s been having a troubled relationship with the club in recent months, is now entering the final year of contract with the Eagles.
That’s why Correio da Manhã writes Benfica ‘do not close the door’ to a deal, as they want to avoid losing him for free. It’s also said Arsenal ‘identified’ the player as a ‘safe bet’ for a reasonable price.
Recent reports from the Portuguese media have claimed that the Eagles would demand only €7.5m to let Grimaldo go, and judging by how much he used to be worth in the past transfer windows, this is certainly an attractive amount now.
The left-back continues to have an interesting offensive impact in Lisbon, with six goals and nine assists last season. Arsenal have been linked to him since the start of the month, while Lyon show up as a potential destination as well.
