Arsenal are ‘best placed to sign’ Sporting star Viktor Gyökeres in the summer window.

That’s according to Monday’s edition of A Bola, who explain multiple factors are favouring Arsenal to secure the transfer.

The striker promised to score at least 20 goals per season when he joined the Lions from Coventry City in July 2023. He managed 90 goals and 26 assists of which 47 goals and 11 assists are from this season.

Gyökeres’ contract lasts until 2028, with a €100m release clause, but is ready to change clubs after this season. Sporting won’t pose obstacles and in fact, make it easier for him to leave by lowering the price to €70m.

Last week, we covered claims from Portugal that Chelsea are preparing to join Arsenal in the battle for the frontman.

Despite the Blues’ interest, A Bola now state ‘Arsenal are in the front’ and are ‘best placed club to sign’ the Swede.

The newspaper states Gyökeres prefers Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Barcelona or PSG. There’s no mention of Chelsea and this favours Mikel Arteta’s side over their London rivals.

In short, Sporting have a pact to let the star leave for €70m and the Sweden international prefers Arsenal. These are the multiple factors that favour the Gunners to complete the operation.
