Arsenal are once again interested in midfielder Berkay Özcan, who they were first linked to back in 2017.
That’s according to Transfermarkt.de, who say that the player, who is currently starring for Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey, is back on the Gunners radar.
They say the midfielder has ‘made his way’ into the thoughts of several Premier League sides, ‘especially at Arsenal’ thanks to his good performances in the Süper Lig and for the Turkish national side.
The Gunners, who were keen on him in 2017 when he was at Stuttgart, have ‘again become aware’ of the player, who has also played in all five of the Turkish side’s Champions League games this season.
There’s no mention of them being ready to make a move or anything of that sort, just that they are among the clubs watching the 22-year-old.
Quite why that would be the case is anyone’s guess given he has not managed a goal or assist in 15 games in all competitions for his club this season, but Transfermark insist the interest is there and the player is a ‘defining element’ for Basaksehir.
There is also no mention of an asking price or anything of that nature, although the website value him at €3m at this moment in time.
That would be a comfortable price for a club like Arsenal, but with information very thin on the ground, this is a rumour to keep an eye on rather than get overly excited about at this moment in time.
