With a contract expiring in June 2018, the future of Keita Baldé at Lazio has been a cause for concern for the Italian media.
The talented Senegalese winger has been a vital part of Simone Inzaghi’s team this season, scoring six goals and picking up three assists in 17 appearances, and with the player seemingly unwilling to renew his contract with the Serie A side, Lazio might be forced to sell.
Claudio Lotito will want to be able to bring in as much money for the 21-year-old, and a few teams have been linked, notably Valencia, Monaco and Manchester United.
However, Senepeople are claiming that a few other clubs tried to their hand at getting Keita during the January transfer window, including Arsenal.
According to the Senegalese website, Arsene Wenger had targeted the young forward over the winter as a potential recruit, but it just didn’t work out.
The article also relays information from Gazzetta dello Sport that Keita has decided not to renew at Lazio, but the Arsenal information appears to be their own.
Considering Wenger made it very clear there wouldn’t be any major changes at the Emirates this winter, we don’t really believe this.
We do, however, agree with the fact that Keita is likely to leave in the summer, and maybe then, and it’s a big maybe, Arsenal might be interested.
