Arsenal would be an ideal location for Ajax boss Erik Ten Haag, should things not work out with current boss Mikel Arteta.

That’s according to former Ajax coach turned analyst Aad de Mos, who believes there are only a handful of clubs who would suit Ten Haag.

The Ajax boss has established himself as one of the hot, up and coming managers in world football over the last few years with the work he has done with the Dutch club.

Despite big player sales, he’s turned them into competitors at home and abroad, with a series of impressive performances in the Champions League.

He’s also shown a talent for developing players, with Ajax again a hotbed for the development of young talent under his leadership as well as somewhere faltering stars can revive their careers.

That’s something we’ve seen with Sebastien Haller this season, while the likes of Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind are further examples too.

It means Ten Haag is a manager in demand, with his name already associated to both Manchester United and Newcastle this year alone.

The suitors are only likely to grow if he continues to perform as he has done, but De Mos believes there are only several clubs who would suit him, and Arsenal are one of them.

“It has to be purely attacking anyway, so the DNA of Ajax has to be in it,” he told Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.

“I think Borussia Dortmund is the ideal option for him. Far from their goal, and it’s not going well right now.

“They have young players, and he can bring a few from Ajax. In that period, they are also going to make another step. That would be ideal.

“If Nagelsmann leaves, then it’s Bayern Munich. At FC Barcelona, Xavi is only just starting, Arsenal, if Arteta doesn’t do well. Then we’ll be sold out soon. Atalanta is still possible, based on the soccer they play.”
