Arsenal and Chelsea have made contact ‘in recent days’ for Palmeiras youngster Vitor Reis, but face competition from Real Madrid for him.
That’s according to the Brazilian edition of GOAL, who report that Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter Milan all contacted the youngster’s intermediaries in the last few days in ‘search of first information’.
No proposal has been made for the player as yet, but Real Madrid are understood to have the longest interest in the 18-year-old after carrying out a consultation on him in the middle of the year.
Palmeiras, for their part, have no interest in losing the player. He’s come through their youth ranks to make his professional debut this year and form a defensive duo with Gustavo Gómez under Abel Fereira.
A source has told GOAL that they believe there is still time and space for Reis to develop with them and therefore there is “no intention of releasing the player” from those in charge.
That is perhaps why the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea are yet to make any formal proposal or go beyond asking the youngster’s entourage for information.
They may want to learn the lay of the land and the possibility of a transfer happening before trying to talk Palmeiras around.
