Arsenal registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Manchester United on Wednesday and Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti was in attendance at the Emirates.

This led to transfer rumours and Sport have come up with a report of their own on the centre-back.

It’s pointed out the 26-year-old has been linked with the Gunners in the last few months and with the north London side looking to bring in a new defender, the France international has always been among the candidates.

Sport states ‘Arsenal are one of the clubs that has always been behind the signing of the Barcelona centre-back’.

The winter market could possibly open the door, but the report makes it clear there’s been no contacts between the La Liga winners and Mikel Arteta’s side to carry out Umtiti’s transfer.

Umtiti has lost his prominence at the Camp Nou and Sport adds he could leave before his current deal runs down in 2023.

Mundo Deportivo also have a short report on the player and they claim Arsenal ‘already loved’ Umtiti before he joined Barcelona from Lyon in 2016.

Those at Barca are of the belief that only Premier League clubs can meet Umtiti’s salary demands.

This is clearly all speculation and had Umtiti not been at the match this week it wouldn’t have happened.
