As Manchester United continue to be named as one of the main contenders for the signing of João Félix from Atletico Madrid, we now get to see Arsenal mentioned in that pursuit as well.
The forward’s departure from the La Liga side had been a strong rumour in the Spanish media in the past few weeks, and with Portugal now eliminated from the World Cup, it’s time for the situation to speed up.
Newspaper AS today features a piece about the scenario, saying Félix has a ‘free path’ to walk out of Atletico Madrid. They claim that agent Jorge Mendes has been working on Félix’s future ‘for weeks’ and ‘will present offers of around €100m’.
Manchester United are, unsurprisingly, mentioned among the contenders, in a list which also includes Paris Saint Germain and Arsenal.
It’s claimed that the Red Devils were along with PSG as the ‘main suitors’ for the signing, but since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from Old Trafford, it’s the Premier League side who’ve shown ‘more interest’.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are said to be a ‘third party’ who enters this competition ‘with strength’, even though there aren’t many details about their chase for the player.
João Félix is leaving Atletico Madrid due to a bad relationship with manager Diego Simeone, and since the club are on board with that operation, they’re just trying to find the best deal to let him go.
With Arsenal and Manchester United now both competing for the signing, it now looks there are good chances the Portuguese star can end up in the Premier League.
