Arsenal have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens in the summer window, according to Ruhr Nachrichten.
Last week, Bild reported Chelsea are ‘serious’ about the 20-year-old. Recent claims from WAZ and Sky Deutschland have stated the Blues are eyeing a move for him.
Ruhr Nachrichten points it and then give their own information on Arsenal and Chelsea’s interest in the winger.
He has a contract until 2028, but the report states Gittens wants to leave BVB after this season.
The newspaper local to Borussia Dortmund found out the attacker keep stating in the dressing room that he won’t be at the club next season. He’s represented by Elite Project Group Limited, who also manage Arsenal star Bukayo Saka.
Gittens and his representatives have informed BVB of his desire to change clubs in the upcoming window. The England U21 international’s goal is to return to his country where Arsenal and Chelsea are his suitors.
Ruhr Nachrichten state Chelsea have already held initial talks with his camp and Arsenal have ‘entered the poker’. They further state the Gunners are ahead of their London rivals.
Gittens can see himself joining Arsenal as he feels the prospect of regular minutes would be higher with them than Chelsea.
Borussia Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken said it’s “not true’ the attacker wants to leave. Despite this, the report states they may be ‘obliged to sell’ depending on where they finish this season.
The Bundesliga club are fifth, trailing fourth placed SC Freiburg by a point. The newspaper states even if they qualify for the Champions League, BVB would be willing to sell Gittens for €50-60m.
