With recent rumours saying Flamengo could sign Pablo Mari back from Arsenal, there’s been big excitement from the Brazilian club’s fans regarding the potential signing.
The possibility continues being discussed by several outlets, with Coluna do Fla now making it clear that the Rio de Janeiro club should go for the transfer in case they have a chance.
The latest quotes come from Tulio Rodrigues, on the Resenha show, where he claims that Mari would arrive to be a starter in the team, as former Gunners’ defender David Luiz would be sent to the bench in this case.
“I think that if you have the possibility, there’s no way not to bring him. Officially, the management did not make a proposal for him, to the staff, nor did they get in touch with Arsenal,” said Rodrigues.
“If you have the possibility, you have to bring him, there is not much conversation. We’d have to see how much it would cost financially, he must be earning much more than he was earning at Flamengo. If Flamengo have to pay something for the loan… In the technical issue, there is no debate about it, moreover, he arrives to be a starter, with Rodrigo Caio returning 100% to reissue the duo. In addition, David Luiz would be on the bench.”
Despite having arguably the best squad in Brazil, Flamengo failed to win the league, the cup and the Copa Libertadores this year, so we can expect them to make big signings for next season.
David Luiz has made ten appearances since arriving for free from Arsenal in the summer, but his performances for the club so far were apparently not enough to solve their defensive problems.
Pablo Mari hasn’t featured for Arsenal since September and recent reports from Brazil said he’s ‘unsatisfied’ with the situation.
