Over the past few weeks the Catalan sport media have been coming to terms with the financial situation at Barcelona. Talk of moves for players like Erling Haaland and Neymar has near completely gone, and the theme of the day is now looking for bargains.

That includes wages, and if there are free agents thinking they can sign for Barcelona and receive a ridiculous salary along with a huge signing-on fee, then they’re probably going to have to reassess their plans.

Monday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports a move for Villarreal’s Pau Torres seems very difficult given the economic situation. Therefore, alternatives will have to be looked at, and that’s where Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez comes into the picture.

Barcelona’s good relationship with the Dutch club is highlighted, and it’s believed the defender could be signed for ‘around €25m’, in a ‘low cost’ move.

Even so, there’s a chance Barca will stick with what they have. Other reports in Spain today insist Samuel Umtiti wants to stay and feels he’s now back to his best.
