Argentine winger Ezequiel Barco has revealed his wish to sign for Manchester City in an interview at the weekend.
The 21-year-old had a live chat with TNT Sports, in which he spoke about his good form at MLS side Atlanta United this season.
Barco claims that he’s been attracting the interest from European sides, and even revealed that Fiorentina are one of the clubs who’ve recently made contact for his signing.
“I know that from Fiorentina they contacted my representative. Also some clubs from France… The truth is that Fiorentina would be a nice possibility, yes. But now I don’t know what will happen with all this pandemic.”
Despite the chance of moving to Serie A, Barco spoke about his wish to play in England, and claimed he even expects a Manchester City player to help him in his move.
“The league that I like the most is the Premier League, I love it. I spoke to Kun Agüero recently, I called him for his birthday. He told me that I had to make the jump to Europe, to go to the Premier… Let him sweeten Pep Guardiola’s ear a little, ha. It would be nice, yes.”
Barco left Argentina pretty early in his career, moving from Aguero’s former club Independiente to Atlanta United in a €12m deal in 2018.
He has 11 goals and 10 assists in 64 appearances for the MLS side so far, so it sounds like he’ll need a little more to impress Pep Guardiola.
Since he’s still just 21 years of age, there’s plenty of time for him to achieve his dreams.
