As Manchester United fans anxiously wait for some news on the fitness situation of Lisandro Martinez, the Argentine media now shares an update on that.
ESPN journalist Esteban Edul writes that the centre-back has a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot.
According to the report, it’s not yet known whether Martinez will go under surgery or if they’ll wait until the bone ‘heals on its own’.
Earlier today, as Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag held a press conference, he claimed the club still didn’t have a ‘complete diagnosis’ on the player and therefore wouldn’t speculate about the issue.
Since the 25-year-old’s injury in the Europa League clash against Sevilla last evening, many people speculated that could be a metatarsal injury or an achilles tendon rupture.
With this first possibility confirmed, it’s safe to say the problem isn’t bad enough to take him out for a very long period, even though it’s safe to say Martinez is unlikely to feature for Manchester United again this season.
Besides the Europa League’s quarter-finals, the Red Devils still fight for the top four in the Premier League and are in the FA Cup semifinals.
