Argentine newspaper Olé brings over ten pages about Lionel Messi’s decision to leave Barcelona today.

Their front page story says ‘Lio Mundial En la City’, claiming that Pep Guardiola’s side are currently leading the race to sign the 33-year-old.

That may make it look like Manchester City are in advanced talks for the signing, but that’s not the case. Just like on Tuesday afternoon on their website, Olé has a story analysing all the clubs who could land Lionel Messi.

The Sky Blues are highlighted due to the attractive option they are. Olé mentions the club’s economic power, besides their presence in the Premier League and the dream to win the Champions League. There’s also the main factor, which is Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City are considered to be one of the clubs who would have no problems to paying for Messi’s transfer in case it’s necessary.

A source told Olé: “He’s paid only with sponsors and with the boom where he decides to go.”

Besides Manchester City, other clubs such as Paris Saint Germain, Chelsea, Manchester United, Juventus, Inter Milan and AC Milan all get a mention. But the only one who seems to have as many positive points as the Citizens seem to be the French side, where Messi would meet his friends Neymar and Angel Di Maria.

MLS clubs are also said to have the conditions to afford the signing, but Olé doesn’t believe the 33-year-old will be going to the United States at this stage.

The same Argentine newspaper has run a poll of their readers to ask which is the best club for Messi to join. Manchester City easily won, getting 50% of the 80k+ votes cast.
