On Thursday, Tottenham Hotspur sealed a 3-0 win over Qarabag FK in the Europa League at home.
Spurs played the majority of the game with 10-men after Radu Drăgușin was sent off in the seventh minute. The incident took place when the centre-back, who was the last outfield player for Tottenham, failed to control the ball in the middle of the pitch.
Qarabag striker Juninho tried to capitalsie on the 22-year-old’s mistake. He was left one-on-one with Drăgușin, who brought down the Brazilian inside Tottenham’s half.
The referee immediate showed the red card to the Romania international, leaving Spurs with a man short. Drăgușin’s national teammate, Florin Tănase, has come to defend the former Genoa man.
Tănase is currently at Romanian side FCSB, and they secured a 4-1 win over Latvian side FK RFS in the Europa League yesterday. He was speaking to the reporters after the tie and Gazeta Sporturilor have relayed his comments.
The 29-year-old forward was asked about the Tottenham player’s sending off.
“There are tackles and tackles, I don’t think any player wants to get a red card. There are mistakes, anyone can make them,” he said.
Drăgușin’s game time has been limited ever since he joined the north London club in January. He’s made only one Premier League appearance for Tottenham this season.
