Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has insisted Chelsea remain his ‘number one contact’ in terms of his contract situation.
Rudiger is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in the summer and, despite the Blues being very keen to get a new deal signed, there has been no progress on that front.
Talks have taken place between both parties on several occasions, particularly in the summer, but so far, they are yet to find an agreement they can sign.
Reports have indicated that the biggest block at this point is a difference in money, with Chelsea yet to offer Rudiger the salary that he is looking for.
That has opened the door for the big sides to make their move in January, with Rudiger free to negotiate a free transfer next summer from January.
The likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are both reportedly keen to take him and offer him the big salary Chelsea are yet to propose, particularly if they can get him on a free transfer.
It’s left the Blues in a precarious situation, with them now facing the prospect of losing a key player to a European rival and make nothing from it in the process.
Rudiger, though, insists his focus remains on the Blues, who are at the top of his list of contacts at this moment in time.
“I’ve always said that Chelsea is my number one contact,” he told Welt Am Sonntag.
“I’m currently only focused on Chelsea. We’ll see what happens.
“I will now concentrate on what is imminent. I owe that to the club, the coach and the team.”
