Chelsea are keen on Hoffenheim 22 year old Jeremy Toljan, report Bild. The German newspaper say Chelsea have not only scouted Toljan for Germany’s U21 side, against both England and Portugal, but have also sent officials to watch him in action at his club.

Toljan is one of a number of Hoffenheim players attracting interest from elsewhere, and that’s the point of Bild’s article. Chelsea’s interest is being led by manager Antonio Conte, according to the claims, and it’s explained the Italian was also keen when he was in charge of Juventus.

The Turin club have also been linked recently, and interest in Toljan seems to be growing. Hoffenheim aren’t as protected as they hope, with the youngster’s contract running out in June 2018. Should no renewal be found before the summer then offers will have to be considered in that context.

Toljan is a two footed defender who can play across the back four, which is a versatility no doubt appealing to Conte. At Hoffenheim this season, Toljan has also played in midfield.

Chelsea are likely to have big plans for the summer with Conte always insistent he gets the signings he wants, and Toljan could be a value option leaving more money to be spent elsewhere.
