Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann has been in impressive form in the last couple of seasons, and was one of the best performers at Euro 2016 this summer.

The 25-year-old is reportedly a target for Manchester United, and French daily L’Equipe, recently, reported it’s only a matter of time before he signs for a club with the stature of Manchester United.

Griezmann is believed to be close to Manchester United star Paul Pogba, and even got involved in the #Pogback hashtag which welcomed the player back to his former club.

The Frenchman has been speaking to Spanish radio Onda Cero (via Manda Pelotas), and was asked about his friendship with the Manchester United star.

Griezmann insists he and Pogba became close friends after criticism from the French media: “Pogba and I were brought closer by the press of France, criticism after the game against Romania has made us friends. Pogba with the ball is a genius.”

Manchester United fans would certainly be hoping Pogba’s friendship with Griezmann might be of some help if Jose Mourinho decides to sign the Atletico Madrid star in the future.

On the subject of his future, Griezmann explained: “I am very good at Atleti and with my teammates, I see that we can achieve important things. With Simeone I’m growing a lot, now I do not think about anything else than Atleti. The goal is to continue with the Atleti and see the new stadium.”

Atletico’s new stadium is set to open at the start of next season, and Simone’s contract was recently shorted, so that it ends in 2018. Therefore a Griezmann exit in summer 2018 would look a reasonable scenario, but theoretically the Frenchman could play in the new stadium next summer and still then leave.
