Wolves are now seven points clear at the top of the Championship and everything is going impressively well.
The Portuguese press love praising Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo, and the Portuguese flavoured recruitment at the club, and members of the squad often speak to newspapers in the country, explaining just how wonderful everything is.
This all makes Wolves a more attractive destination for Portugal based players, and therefore it wasn’t a great surprise when, with Rafa Silva loan rumours being pushed, Wolves were the only club named.
That then led to claims from the English media that Wolves were making actual efforts to sign Rafa Silva. Of course, none of that was actually true, just a twist of the original Portuguese reporting.
Trying to get more information on the possible transfer, Sport Witness contacted Rafa Silva’s agent Antonio Araujo last week, and we were told: “I will not comment on that. Even because we are in a moment of great definition and do not intend to comment anything to any question.”
That was very much a ‘let’s wait and see’.
It hasn’t taken long for another development. On Sunday evening, Benfica play Setubal at home, and Rafa Silva isn’t in the match day squad, report O Jogo.
O Jogo say it’s ‘another sign’ pointing to the exit for a January loan. No clubs are mentioned, which leaves Wolves as the only club singled out so far.
As we’ve stated previously, this all very much looks like a possibility of Rafa Silva being edged towards Wolves, rather than the Championship club having gone out of their way to register an interest.
