Santos fans were caught by surprise on Thursday when seeing the Brazilian club being linked to Manchester City midfielder Fernandinho.
According to reports on Twitter, agents have offered the 35-year-old on a free transfer, since his contract with the Premier League side expires at the end of the season.
What would help the move is that Fernandinho is claimed to be a Santos fan. However, the club is currently banned by Fifa from making signings due to transfer debts, so they’d need to sort that situation first.
All those transfer claims were later turned down. Journalist Lucas Mussetti, one of the most reliable when it comes to the white and black side, says the news is a ‘another lie’.
Then responding to a tweet, Mussetti pointed out that Fernandinho is loved by Pep Guardiola, and wouldn’t simply be offered around like this.
The midfielder’s departure from Manchester City at the end of the season is expected, but not official yet. He’s been linked to other Brazilian sides such as Athletico Paranaense and Atletico Mineiro.
