Despite Tony Pulis being reportedly very eager to sign the player for West Brom, Birmingham City are said to have an agreement to buy Kerim Frei from Besiktas, according to multiple sources in the Turkish media.
NTVSpor started it off, but now Fanatik, Sabah, CNN Turk and others are all covering it and claiming Birmingham City have agreed a €2.5m fee for the player.
Besiktas are required to make an announcement to the stock market if they are in advanced talks to sell a player, and that has been done. Birmingham City have been named as the destination club, and given this is official information released because Besiktas are required to by law, it’s not simply been plucked from thin air.
NTVSpor say Frei will now travel to Birmingham in the coming days to sign a contract, pending a successful medical for the 23 year old.
Maybe Pulis can pounce at the airport, get West Brom to agree a fee too, and convince Frei on a different destination.
