This afternoon Diedier Deschamps will announce his France squad for the upcoming friendlies, and it’s no surprise Anthony Martial is expected to be in it.
Martial had been a regular in Deschamps’ squads, but questions over his impact, or otherwise, during Euro 2016, and then Jose Mourinho preferring other options, led to the young forward dropping out.
L’Equipe believe now is the time for the player’s return, and whilst they don’t claim to have any inside information on who Deschamps has picked, it’s assumed the Manchester United player will be in.
The announcement will be made on Thursday afternoon, and Martial is expected to get good news of a return, but some others will be dropping out. Nabil Fekir is expected to join the Manchester United player in returning, which will lead to too many attackers, so something has to give.
Martial ‘deserves’ the expected return, say L’Equipe, which at least shows he’s got the backing of some media, and that can only be a good thing.
Manchester United fans keen on knowing whether Martial makes it, may want to know the announcement will be made at 1pm UK time.
