While Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester City is the biggest story of the transfer window right now following Lionel Messi’s big move to Paris Saint-Germain, not everyone is thrilled about it.
And by that, we mean the player himself, as Corriere dello Sport have a long article about the situation, with the headline going straight in by claiming things have gone ‘frosty’ as the forward is ‘angry and disappointed’ with his agent, Jorge Mendes.
There have been ‘days of tension’ between the two, as the representative is ‘guilty of not being able to find him a team in the way and time hoped’, hinting that his lack of options has frustrated him.
Calling his exit from Juventus a ‘traumatic farewell’, which has made the Portuguese ‘quite angry’, not because ‘of the final outcome but for the path that led to this decision’, they write that his reasoning is ‘how is it possible that I, the most influential man in the world and the footballer who broke all records on a football field, have had to collect garbage in a summer where Leo Messi has changed teams and Kylian Mbappé will too?’
While he isn’t mad at the fact he is joining Manchester City, since he and Pep Guardiola have already had a ‘phone call and everything seems to have settled down’, his anger ‘remains, especially towards his agent and friend Jorge Mendes, who was unable to satisfy him in the way and the hoped-for time’.
In fact, there’s a belief there has been ‘real sparks and particularly tense days’, but regarding him and the Etihad manager, ‘they never liked each other, but together they will have to coexist’.
In the grand scheme of things, however, everything is clear: ‘there is no going back now, Cristiano has decided he must go’.
