Valencia have played five games in preseason and failed to win one of them. As has been the case often in the past decade, there’s some pessimism around the club, and Leeds United have added to that.

The Spanish side lost 2-1 to Daniel Farke’s men on Saturday, and Sunday’s edition of SuperDeporte, the Valencia regional sports newspaper, has a front page story saying they haven’t started yet… hinting the team is like a car which can’t get going.

SuperDeporte reports there’s a ‘bitter taste’ growing around the side managed by Ruben Baraja, with that partly due to a disappointing preseason and partly down to a lack of reinforcements coming through the door.

Valencia ‘is not yet ready to play’ and there’s a worry over a lack of progression during their preparation for the coming season, with performances justifying the negative results.

The defeat is being covered across the Spanish sport media, and AS say it was uncertain whether Rafa Mir, who was sent off after two yellow cards, had his head in Sevilla – who he left on loan to join Valencia a few weeks ago – or Leeds.

Big worry again for Los Ches, but it’s a different story at Leeds United.
