Pedro Porro’s loan from Manchester City to Sporting has been a success from the start, as the fullback had a quick adaptation to the Lisbon side.
His performances were the reason why the Portuguese press soon claimed that the Lions would trigger the release clause over the player, which stands at €8.5m.
Now his success for Sporting continues being highlighted everywhere. It started with the announcement of the player of the month awards by Liga NOS, where Porro was picked as the best defender for the third consecutive time.
Since his teammate Antonio Adán was the best goalkeeper, he gave an interview to Marca about his form for the Lions, who are currently top of the league, and the Spaniard had something nice to say about Porro as well.
“I already knew him. I faced him when he was playing for Girona and he had a very high level that caused City to sign him. Last season he didn’t have continuity in Valladolid, but here he has once again shown the great footballer that he is. He is still very young, but he plays like a veteran. He has a tremendous career ahead of him.”
Signed by Manchester City in a €12m move from Girona in 2019, Porro first had a loan spell at Real Valladolid and was then sent to Sporting last summer. He’s now likely to leave the Premier League side without having a single chance to prove himself under Pep Guardiola.
This seems to be a similar situation to Angeliño’s, who is shining for RB Leipzig on loan and is expected to leave the club permanently once again for a fee that many will consider cheap when looking at his performances.
Not long ago, the Portuguese media claimed Porro is only returning to the Premier League side until a completely new agreement is found between the clubs.
