RB Leipzig are keen to turn Angeliño’s loan move from Manchester City into a permanent one and talks between the clubs are ongoing about it happening.
The Spanish left-back has been on loan with the Bundesliga side since January, having made a surprise move to the club on deadline day despite getting a few games for Manchester City earlier in the campaign.
He has proven to be a big hit with Leipzig, establishing himself a first-team regular under Julian Nagelsmann and making nine appearances so far, registering one goal and one assist.
They have an option to turn his deal into a permanent one come the end of it, but several reports have indicated they do not want to pay the pre-agreed price.
SportBild confirm that is the case, explaining that it is now certain Leipzig will look to sign him permanently and have ‘firmly committed’ to this.
All that’s missing are the ‘details’ with talks between Leipzig and Manchester City ongoing regarding his asking price.
City set a €30m price to make the move permanent when they negotiated the loan deal, but that is not a price Leipzig want to pay, and they are hoping to bring it down.
That is likely to be a result of the Coronavirus outbreak and the impact that has had on club finances around Europe, although SportBild make no mention of what kind of fee they are looking to pay instead.
All’s that is made clear is that the German side are very keen to bring him in permanently and are working to that end.
The main obstacle is convincing City to let him go for a more agreeable price.
