Earlier this week, we covered claims from South America which stated Tottenham Hotspur are in the picture to sign Getafe’s Omar Alderete.
There was also confidence he could move to the Premier League in the winter market.
Friday’s edition of AS further backs up Tottenham’s interest in the centre-back and shares more details on this case.
They state the 27-year-old is one of the names included in the north London club’s target list for next month. The Paraguay international made it to the list mainly because of Ange Postecoglou.
The player’s strength and ability to control the ball is appreciated by the former Celtic manager. Therefore, the newspaper states Postecoglou has asked Spurs to sign him next month to improve their defence.
As well as Tottenham, other clubs have shown interest in the player, but their details are not mentioned. The South American’s deal lasts until 2028, and the report says it includes a €16m buyout clause.
Getafe chairman Ángel Torres has always referred to Alderete’s release clause when there’s been an approach for him.
Alderete’s clause is affordable for Tottenham.
