Jose Mourinho started Andreas Pereira in Manchester United’s first two matches of the season in August, since then the midfielder has been restricted to 36 minutes in all competitions.
It would be no surprise if the 22-year-old is frustrated with limited playing time. His contract at Old Trafford runs down at the end of the season and the Red Devils have an option to further extend it by a year.
Yahoo Esportes journalist Jorge Nicola has done some digging around the player’s future, and believes renewing his contract simply isn’t interesting right now.
Mourinho has hardly selected the player this season, and he’s been in and out of the matchday squads.
Nicola explains Pereira has already told friends of his dream to represent Brazil at the 2022 World Cup, and claims the player ‘understands that he needs to be on a team where he can play frequently’.
Unless Mourinho has a change of heart, the situation isn’t going to change soon and that puts Andreas Pereira’s Manchester United future in doubt.
