Rayo Vallecano manager Andoni Iraola has insisted his situation “hasn’t changed” despite renewed claims regarding a move to Leeds United.
The Spanish coach was linked with the vacant Leeds post throughout this week, with a report claiming he was on a three-man shortlist drawn up by Victor Orta.
It was believed he had moved to the top of that shortlist at one point but it was made clear in England and Spain that he could reject the switch and continue his work with Rayo.
That led to Leeds moving for Feyenoord boss Arne Slot but he also rejected the approach, preferring to stay with the Eredivisie leaders than move to a relegation battle in the Premier League.
That twist has seen Iraola again linked with the job, with his name moving back up the bookmaker’s charts last night.
It seems that has not led to any movement in Iraola’s thinking, though, with him insisting that the situation has not changed.
“It’s true that there has been noise but my situation hasn’t changed,” Union Rayo report him saying at a Saturday press conference.
“Neither at the level of contract nor at the level of commitment, I’m still focused on Rayo. There have been no changes this week.
“I don’t think the team is affected by this.”
