Carlo Ancelotti rubbishing the idea of Bernard moving to AS Roma this month, in a deal which could help make Robin Olsen’s stay at Goodison Park permanent, has in turn been rubbished in Italy.

Roma have been linked with Bernard for some months, although their idea of the player’s value is likely to seriously differ from that of Everton.

Over the past week there have been claims that a swap deal could be agreed between the Serie A and Premier League clubs.

That would see Bernard move to Roma on a permanent transfer, with the Italian side sending both Olsen, permanently, and some cash to balance the accounts of the deal.

Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport insists the deal is on the cards for this month, with the insinuation that Ancelotti was bluffing when he talked the situation down.

Still, there’s likely to be problems on two fronts. Firstly, with the amount of cash Roma want to send to make up the difference, and secondly with Bernard’s wages.
