When Carlo Ancelotti moved from Everton back to Real Madrid it was inevitable that at some point Los Blancos would be linked with Richarlison.

Whether the claims were true or not, they were going to come. There’s already been several suggestions of interest from the La Liga side, and over the past week it’s been claimed Ancelotti has asked for the player’s signing.

Holding a press conference on Friday afternoon, ahead of the restart of Spanish football, the manager was asked if it’s true he’s asked for Richarlison to be signed.

His reply saw him sit on the fence, and he certainly did little to kill the rumours. Marca quote Ancelotti as saying: “I have affection for him, he is a great player, but I am not talking about the players who are in other clubs.”

Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe in the current window, and should they manage to prise the Frenchman away from PSG then it’s unlikely they’d make an effort for Richarlison.

Having allowed him to take part in the Olympics, where he won a gold medal with Brazil, Everton won’t want to be dragged into a battle over the player’s future so quickly.
