Former Italy striker Antonio Cassano has questioned why Romelu Lukaku would swap Chelsea for Barcelona this summer.
Lukaku is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer transfer window after a miserable year back at Chelsea following a £100m+ move from Inter Milan.
He had been the star of the show in Italy but has struggled to adapt to life under Thomas Tuchel, finding himself sat on the bench following a series of disappointing performances.
He’s now behind Kai Havertz in the pecking order, a bitter blow given the German is more of a number ten than an out and out striker.
It is because of this he’s expected to leave, and Barcelona were recently named as a potential bidder for his services.
They’re on the hunt for a striker this summer and are believed to be interested should Lukaku be made available by Chelsea. Cassano, though, has questioned why he would ever make the move to the Camp Nou.
“I’m in love with Barça’s philosophy, but if they take Lukaku, I won’t watch another game,” Tuttomercatoweb reports him saying.
“He can’t make three passes with Chelsea where he has no competition; at Barcelona, they make 55 before going on goal; how does he manage with that?”
