Arne Slot is the Dutch ‘man of the year’ thanks to his performances with Liverpool since joining them in the summer.

That’s according to analyst Hans Kraay Jnr, relayed by Feyenoord Pings, who has praised the influence the Dutch coach has had on the Reds so far.

He arrived at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement in the summer following the German’s surprise decision to step away at the end of last season.

Many had predicted that life could be difficult for him as walking into the job following a legend like Klopp, whose personality had helped rebuild the club and build a strong relationship with the fanbase had made him a hard act to follow.

Instead, it has been smooth sailing so far, with Liverpool currently top of the Premier League table and leading the Champions League with six wins from six to date.

Slot has been credited with making that happen, particularly for the manner in which he has adapted what Klopp left behind rather than taking the approach of ripping things up and starting again.

It’s been a case of small changes leading to massive improvements and that’s why Kraay Jnr has the Liverpool manager as his first choice for man of the year.

“It’s about a) quality, b) quality and c) quality,” he told Voetbal International.

“But if Slot makes a team 15% better, that’s the maximum I think, and someone else makes Liverpool 15% less, that makes a difference of 30%. Then a trainer does have influence. Arne Slot is my man of the year.”
