Ex Liverpool defender Daniel Agger has spoken to the Danish media about the feedback he’s been receiving with his visits to his former club.
The 39-year-old is currently the Denmark assistant coach and he looks set to commit himself to his country following the recent appointment of Brian Riemer as their new manager.
Speaking to Tipsbladet ahead of Denmark’s clash with Spain on Friday night, Agger was asked about how Liverpool have benefited him with his national coaching role.
The Dane said he’s made the trip to England on a number of occasions to see how Liverpool coach with the first team and also the youth set up. He went on to say the improvements they’ve made with the academy have been a revelation.
“I’ve been to Liverpool several times to get an idea of how they do it – and not just in the first team, but also the academy. Their mindset is inspiring, and there is a really talented director at the academy who has turned the whole place upside down. It’s an inspiring place to be,” said the Dane.
Agger spent eight years at Liverpool after signing for the Premier League side from Brondby in 2006. During his time at Anfield the former Denmark international became something of a cult hero and made over 200 appearances for the club.
He went on to manage Danish side HB Køge after retiring from playing before taking up his role with the national team.
