In the past couple of weeks, we’ve been reading a lot about Gary Medel’s situation at Besiktas.
Several reports from the Turkish press have been saying that the player regrets not having joined West Ham in January, and now wants to leave the Turkish side in the summer.
One of these claims even said the player’s family would be keen on moving to London, which only fed the West Ham rumours.
Although Medel hasn’t been speaking much to the Turkish press, he was interviewed by the Latin American Fox Sports, and felt more comfortable to comment on his current situation.
Medel, who has recently been benched, has claimed that he “won’t forget how to play football” during his time away from the pitch.
“Playing is always good, it gives you a separate benefit. But if you train well you do not lose quality,” the midfielder told Fox Sports (via La Tercera).
Asked about his future, Medel has made it clear that there are no negotiations going on for his renewal with Besiktas.
“I still do not talk about renewing,” he said. “I have one year left on my contract, but the truth is that I do not know what I will want for the future. Later it will be time to talk about that.”
The West Ham rumours will be likely continue until the summer, and have been popular in Chile given the Manuel Pellegrini connection.
