A few days ago, former AC Milan boss Siniša Mihajlović revealed Chelsea tried signing Alessio Romagnoli in the summer.
During the summer, Romagnoli was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea, but nothing materialised in the end, as AC Milan were reluctant to sell him.
According to a latest report on Italian website Calciomercato, Chelsea will try to sign the Italian defender again in January, but are likely to get the same reply from AC Milan.
It’s been reported Chelsea offered more than €35m for Romagnoli in the summer, and are already formulating an offer of over €40m for January, but AC Milan have no plans to sell him.
The 21-year-old has been in impressive form this season for Vincenzo Montella’s team, and the Serie A giants are keen on extending his contract, but are in no rush at the moment.
Calciomercato say Roman Abramovich is convinced by the instant impact Antonio Conte has made at the club, and wants to back him in January, but with all due respect to Conte, Romagnoli isn’t for sale.
