Towards the middle of August, rumours started to appear that West Ham United were looking at Jakub Kiwior.
The Polish defender had impressed in his brief stint in Italy, and with Nayef Aguerd picking up an injury, the Hammers needed someone else in.
That man ended up being Thilo Kehrer, who was signed from Paris Saint-Germain, but it’s clear West Ham gave signing Kiwior a good go.
We saw claim they had taken concrete steps to get him, before it was said their offer had been rejected, with him staying at Spezia.
Then came a story that Kiwior was the one who had turned down West Ham, only for the stories to start up again, dragging into October, with it said they will need €15m to get him.
Not only that, but they will have to beat Milan to the punch, as Gazzetta dello Sport explain the player remains a target for the Serie A side, before mentioning the Hammers.
They take a closer look at the ‘ambitious and tough’ defender, revealing he’s the type of footballer who stays on the training pitch ‘even an hour longer’ than his teammates.
That’s exactly the kind of player any team wants, but it’s pointed out that ‘in the summer, he said no to West Ham’.
Whether that would be the case again in January, however, remains to be seen.
