Rising France star Loïc Badé has admitted that his short and unsuccessful spell at Nottingham Forest was the worst experience a player can go through.

L’Equipe cover comments from the Sevilla defender today, in which he admits he doesn’t look back at Nottingham Forest with any pleasure.

Badé is the rising defensive star in French football, recently establishing himself in Didier Deschamps’ set up after impressing at Sevilla.

He’s been with the Spanish side since the beginning of 2023, when he initially arrived on loan from Stade Rennais. That move was made permanent for €12m that summer.

Badé joined the Spanish side midway through the season after seeing a loan spell at Nottingham Forest cut short after a miserable few months in England. He had joined on loan from the French side but failed to make a single appearance or minute of football under Steve Cooper.

The defender since bounced back in Seville, where he’s established himself as one of their star men and put that bad spell in England firmly in the rear-view mirror.

That doesn’t mean he doesn’t get asked about it, though, and he admits it was the worst experience for a player.

“There are a lot of doubts that creep in,” he said.

“What I experienced there was one of the worst situations for a player. You ask yourself: Am I still up to it? Am I not, in the end, just a fraud (laughs)?

“It’s a vicious circle. The less you play, the more you lose confidence. And when you do play, you’re afraid of doing badly. I was lucky to have good support.”
