ESPN Argentina today featured a long interview with Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

Besides the usual questions about the national team and South American football, the player also answered to a few topics about his season in the Premier League.

Alvarez was asked to talk about his Manchester City teammate Erling Haaland, with whom he’s been partnering up pretty well in Pep Guardiola’s attack.

The Argentine player ended up revealing a very good relationship between the two, claiming the Norwegian star is something who helps him a lot.

“Haaland is unbelievable, he has scored a lot of goals in all the teams he has played for over the years and in the national team. There is no need to talk about the skills he has on the pitch,” Alvarez told ESPN Argentina.

“What I can say from the outside is that he is a great guy, a great person, very nice. He has helped me and always helps me, for whatever I need, he is at my disposal and that is very good and I thank him for that.”

Alvarez also talked about his adaptation to English football, and after such a successful first season, the challenges in his second year at Manchester City.

“After having been here for a season, I have learned a lot about how to move in different spaces, but now I am also playing in a more delayed position, closer to the midfielders. But the sum of minutes and having been here for a season, you learn a lot from your teammates, listening to them, listening to the coaching staff, watching the videos, to position yourself better on the pitch and know where the spaces are and associate with your teammates to generate goal situations.”

“We knew that after winning everything last season, all the teams are going to play us in a different way, we know that we are the champions. But being aware of that, it makes you be alert and play every game with maximum tension, trying to impose the maximum personal and group level to win, as we have been doing.”

Featuring for Manchester City this season, Alvarez has seven goals and five assists in 17 appearances.

The striker is now preparing for the match against Chelsea on Sunday, and then he’ll join the Argentine national team, as they have a couple of important games in the World Cup Qualifiers, facing Uruguay and Brazil in the next couple of weeks.
