Last summer, Sporting signed three promising players on loan deals. Fernando was brought from Shakhtar Donetsk, José Rodriguez arrived from Paris Saint Germain and Yannick Bolasie was signed from Everton.

All three of them had the possibility of becoming permanent signings in the future. But the Brazilian, who struggled with injuries, was sent back to the Ukraine side in January.

Jesé and Bolasie are left, and Sporting president Frederico Varandas is now giving hints about the future.

The official has been interviewed by Portuguese newspaper Record, and asked about all of these transactions. He was first quizzed about the three of them, and only had an answer about Fernando.

Asked about Jesé and Bolasie, he only replied about the Spaniard. Then Record insisted a little bit and questioned him on whether the pair are too expensive to sign permanently.

“We hit the same key again. Loans were not the first option, they were an appeal.”

Finally asked if Sporting are keeping them or not, Varandas said: “It’s already decided, but I will not say here”.

Bolasie has two goals and four assists in 22 appearances for Sporting so far. The Portuguese press says the Lions would have to spend €4.5m to make his move from Everton permanent.
