Raúl Jiménez last featured for Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of August and has been sidelined since then with an injury.
The Mexico international is in his home country, working on his recovery to make himself available for selection for the 2022 World Cup.
Last month, El Tri manager Gerardo Martino admitted there is always uncertainty around the Wolves player’s involvement in the FIFA tournament.
He had also stressed there has been a ‘resounding change’ in the 31-year-old’s recovery.
Earlier claims had stated the former Barcelona coach will wait until the last minute to take a decision on the striker’s participation in Qatar.
El Universal in Mexico now claim Martino ‘already has a date’ set on whether or not he will include the Wolves star in his squad for the World Cup. It’s said the national team boss is ‘quite clear’ on this as the ‘deadline to wait’ for Jiménez will be on November 9th.
In the event the frontman is fit to play on the aforementioned date, he will go to Qatar. If not, he will miss out from making it to Mexico’s squad.
In other words, El Universal state that Wolves’ Jiménez is ‘still at risk of missing’ the World Cup.
