Roque Mesa had a great start to the season with Las Palmas, which led to a handful of transfer claims in the winter window.

Some of those were unrealistic, with Mesa being pushed to a level which may have meant a lack of games, and a less spectacular second half to the season for Las Palmas served to quieten things.

Links with Swansea City then appeared, and it made some sense for all involved. Now a deal has been agreed and Spanish newspaper Sport report Swansea will pay €12.5m, and the midfielder will see his salary double by moving to the Premier League.

It’s a huge move for the footballer, who recently turned 28 years of age, and takes him to a new financial level.

Las Palmas sport director Toni Cruz has been speaking about the player’s impending move to Swansea City, and confirmed everything has now been agreed with the Welsh club.

Sport quote Cruz as saying: “There is already agreement between Swansea and Las Palmas in all stipulations that come in the contract, and we are waiting. I guess tomorrow or after it can become official.”
